Judge Bola A. Ajibola (SAN) - Former President World Bank Administrative Tribunal, Former Judge, International Court of Justice.

His Excellency Judge Bola Ajibola was formerly President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as well as erstwhile Attorney – General and Minister of Justice. This national statesman and doyen of international law was in 1991 appointed to serve on the International Court of Justice in The Hague, The Netherlands.

In April of 1994, he was appointed Judge ad-hoc to the Permanent Court of International Arbitration (also in The Hague) with regard to the land and maritime dispute between Cameroon and Nigeria. Judge Ajibola has served on various other international arbitration bodies and legal institutions which include the World Bank Administrative Tribunal; the UN International Law Commission, Geneva; as well as the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, in Sarajevo. He is the President of The World Association of Judges of the World Jurist Association (Washington DC). In 1995 he founded the African Concern, a non-governmental organisation that is dedicated to the promotion of peace and socio-economic development in Africa. He was at a time the High Commissioner representing the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) - Former Attorney General, Lagos State.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN was formerly the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State. Prior to that, he was a partner at the Law Firm of Osinbajo, Kukoyi & Adopaye, and Head of Department of Public Law at the University of Lagos. Professor Osinbajo also served as the Special Advisor to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice between 1988 and 1991.

He has provided expertise and consulted with a wide range of development organisations such as the United Nations, United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations/ United Nations Development Programme, United Nations African Institute for Crime Prevention and ECOWAS. Professor. Yemi Osinbajo together with Mr. Olusoji Apanpa founded INTEGRITY, the umbrella organization of the Convention on business Integrity. He is a Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Professor Margaret Okorodudu-Fubara - Faculty of Law Obafemi Awolowo University. Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

Professor Margaret Okorodudu – Fubara formerly Dean, Faculty of Law Obafemi Awolowo University was trained in the United Kingdom and at Harvard.Professor Okorodudu–Fubara pioneered “Mainstream Environment for Sustainable Development into African Universities” (MESA). This was a United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) initiative on Education for sustainable development and conservation in all tertiary institutions worldwide.  Since 2002, she has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Fulbright Alumni Association of Nigeria together with other eminent scholars such as Professor Grace Alele-Williams, and Professor Julius Okojie, Executive Secretary of the National Universities commission.

In 2007, she became a member of the Working Group on UNEP Global Environment Report (GEO – 4) 2007, promoting Environmental Research and Learning for Sustainable Development. Professor Okorodudu – Fubara is also a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Academy of Environmental Law, and a consultant to several international organizations such as UNEP, UNDP and the World Bank.

Mr. Yemi Adeola - Group Managing Director, Sterling Bank, Nigeria.

Mr. Adeyemi Adeola is a lawyer and accomplished banker with hands-on experience spanning over 20 years.  A John F. Kennedy Scholar, Yemi Adeola was a former Council Member of the Financial Institution Training Centre.  At different times he worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Nigeria International Bank (Citibank Nigeria) where he rose to the level of an Executive Director in 1998.

He held this position up till 2003 when he joined Trust Bank of Africa Limited on a turn-around assignment as Deputy Managing Director. He turned the bank from a loss making position to a profit making institution before the bank’s consolidation exercise. Following the emergence of Sterling Bank Plc aftermath of the merger exercise, he was appointed Executive Director of the Bank and later became its Group Managing Director.

Prof. Emmanuel Olukayode Oladipo

Dr. Yashua Hamza - Head, Pediatrics Department, Muritala Mohammed Hospital, Kano State, Nigeria.

Dr. Yushua Alkali Hamza is the Head of Paediatrics, Murtala Mohammed Hospital, Kano State, Nigeria.  She participated at the Senegal leg of the Inter Action Africa Leadership Programme Pan – Africa Event, sponsored by the British Council. She has written in several local and foreign reviewed Journals.

Mr. Mansour Jarmakani

Mr. Manssour Jarmakani attended the American Community International School for his primary education, from where he proceeded to the United Kingdom for his secondary education.  After his secondary education, he bagged a degree in Marketing and Management, and later obtained another

degree in Information Technology from the North Eastern University, Boston, United States of America.

Mr. Jarmakani who speaks English, Arabic, French and Yoruba languages is currently the Group Executive Director, Jagal Group, an indigenous conglomerate. At different times, Mr. Jarmakani has engaged in charity works to orphanage homes. He was one of those at the forefront in giving relief materials to victims of the bomb blast incident at the Ikeja Cantonment. In recognition of his passion to contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria, Mr. Manssour Jarmakani was in 2007 granted Nigerian citizenship. His father is also a naturalized Nigerian likewise his brother.

Professor Olanrewaju  Fagbohun

Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun is one of the celebrated voices in the area of environmental law and advocacy for environmental preservation.  He is a native of Akesan in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.  His father, HRM Oba Tajudeen Abayomi Alabi Fagbohun (Ogedengbe III) was the traditional ruler of Akesan Community.

 

Professor Fagbohun received his trainings at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and at the University of Lagos from where he earned his Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws and later doctorate degree.  He began his teaching career at the Faculty of Law of the Lagos State University (LASU) in 1991. He lectured at LASU for 19 years at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels before joining the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) in 2009.

 

At different times, Professor Fagbohun has served as consultant and task leader for the United Nations Environmental Programme, the British Council, the European Commission, World Council on Genetics, University of Nottingham, the Harvard Medical School, the National Judicial Institute, and several State Governments among others.  He is an Assessor/External Examiner for MPhil/Ph.D programmes of a number of universities in Nigeria; the University of Forth Hare, South Africa; and the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.  He is also on the Board of the Environmental Law Research Institute.

Professor Fagbohun has also served as the Chairman, Lagos State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal; Member, Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission; Chairman, Editorial Board, Petroleum, Natural Resources and Environmental Law Journal; Editor-in-Chief, NIALS Journal of Environmental Law; Vice-Chairman, African Regional Forum of the International Bar Association; Regional Representative, Africa, Environment Health and Safety Committee of the IBA; Member, Regional Academic Network on IT Policies; Law and Policy Expert Think 20 Summit/Global Policy Dialogue Platform Conference on Sustainable Development; and Member, Expert Group for the Development of Climate Change Policy and Legislation for Nigeria. He was one of the 19 experts globally selected in 2012 to work in the Task Force that produced the International Bar Association Publication titled Achieving Justice and Human Rights in an Era of Climate Disruption which was published in July, 2014. He is also a recipient of several Awards within and outside Nigeria. As at February, 2021, Professor Fagbohun has published sixty-one (61) articles in local and international peer reviewed journals and delivered over 160 commissioned lectures in different parts of the world. He has co-edited nine (9) books and authored two (2) books that have met with acclaim and enthusiastic praise from reviewers, namely The Law of Oil Pollution and Environmental Restoration: A Comparative Review; and his influential inaugural work, Mournful Remedies, Endless Conflicts and Inconsistencies in Nigeria’s Quest for Environmental Governance: Rethinking The Legal Possibilities for Sustainability. On a number of occasions, Professor Fagbohun has acted as Nigerian Law Expert for Law Firms in the United Kingdom and United States. In one of the cases, the United States District Court Southern District of Florida expresslyrelied in her judgment on Professor Fagbohun’s expert opinion and further noted that “both as an academic and legal practitioner, he was thoroughly qualified”. Professor Fagbohun served as the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University. Throughout his 5-year tenure, the University did not have any disruption to its academic calendar(January 2016 to January 2021). The University moved from an Institution with which many were disenchanted to a University with national and global visibility. The University among several others became certified by the World Bank, Association of AfricanUniversities, and the National Universities Commission as an Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM education. The University was also ranked the second-best University in Nigeria by THE World University Ranking 2021, and in the 501 to 600 band globally. He is a founding member of the Environmental Law Research Institute (ELRI), a nonprofit organization for applied environmental research and policy analysis. In 2019, Professor Fagbohun was conferred with the National Productivity Order of Merit Award by the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
